We received some devastating news this morning. We are still fighting with all of our might, and ignoring any stupid statistics. But we could sure use a whole lot of prayers and a miracle or two. Please join us in storming heaven with prayers.
We've shed an ocean of tears, but we are still full of hope, faith, and strength.
Thanks for all of the love and support that has been coming our way.

I feel that all leukemia news is bad news, except for remission. Joe is alive, there is hope..........in Christ, in medicine. You have endured so much, what is written between the lines of the blog is what I now read. Still praying every day.......though God chose not to answer our prayers for Livi in the way we sought, we still have faith that He can do that for you and Joe. Love, Gigi

Karen and Joe,
We feel for you and love you. We will press on our God because he care for us. We have faith in Jesus because He had resurrected from the death, and is sitting on the right hand of God. We don't see the purpose of the harsh trial through out the illness journey, but faith tells us there is a purpose. God works out all the situations for the benefit of those who love Him whom He had predestined for salvatlion. It is for Him we have our lives and beings. It is for Him we fight a good fight. It is for Him we are under His wing even though we were walking through the shadows of death. Jesus is the same, yesterday, today and tomorrow. He is both life and the resurrection. We will all have glorious resurrected body when He comes again. There will be no tear, illness, but joy and peace and worhsip the only ture God. We love you and keep you in our hearts and minds. Love Chi-Yin

We are all drawn together by LOVE even through your
trials

I have been following your blog since last year when I heard about it on the knot. I am so sorry to hear this latest news, especially since I have had so much faith in your struggle. I hope for your continued strength and courage, and thank you for sharing all aspects of this journey.

Dear God,
Thank you for chasing after Joe, for chasing after his heart, and for claiming Joe as your precious son. Thank you for who you created Joe to be - a gentle soul, a courageous soul, a hopeful soul, and a faithful man of God. Life dealt him a really crappy leukemia card & uprooted all of his plans, but Joe & Karen have responded by holding onto faith, holding onto your promises for a full & abundant life, holding onto YOU Lord!!!! They have always declared that you are the sole author of Joe's life, and that God Is Good, All the Time! How difficult it is to declare your goodness when life is not good!
Lord, we collectively cry out to you on Joe's behalf and ask you to HEAL him of this dreadful disease, clear his bloodstream of this fungal infection, raise up an army of white blood cells, and help his body fight back Lord!!! Pour your protection upon him Lord!!! Pour your life-giving healing into Joe's bloodstream, Lord!!! Give him a fighting chance, Lord!!! Help him declare victory over this infection, Lord. Where medicine is limited, your healing powers are infinite. We fully believe that you have the power to make miracles happen. We fully believe that you have already saved Joe's spiritual life. We declare your sovereignty over Joe and over this disease Lord. Please save Joe's physical life!!! It is by your grace alone that Joe beats this and we're begging you to protect him Lord.
God you know the deepest prayers of our hearts even when we can't articulate them. I pray for comfort for Joe, Karen, the Lins, and the Lans.
Maranatha,
-jennylin
Dearest Joe & Karen,

Donna and John,
Thanks for your care step by step in helping Karen and Victor growing up. Thank for your recommendation letter to help Victor Jr. up. Since Joe has extremely low or no white blood cells to fight. He has already been on tons of antibiotics, anti-viral and anti-fungal medications to prevent infections. Even so, their new skin eruptions biopsy showed an all resistant fungi. The weekend covering lady hematologist has a bit over aggressive attitude to announce their hopelessness. She recommend Karen to call their pastor. Karen called me directly and crying to tell me the bad news( Karen always calls mom, never me first for chatting). I had approached the hematologist utter my concern that covering doctor, not even the infectious consultant may not be appropriate to make decision in the weekend this gigantic and said she is deciding for comfort measure instead of artificial ventilation. I made her felt a bit bad. She has toned down much more later because Joe did also show big improvement over night. I hope she is wrong.
We never touch Joe for obvious reasons. Since the event, I gave Joe a gentle "magic hug" as you asked me to do. Joe screamed for pain.
From skin to bone, he has continuous morphine drip, yet the pain is still intolerable.
Donna, do not feel bad. I did hug him before you suggested. Hence you were innocent.
Joe and Karen are very positive. They are very good kids. We admire.
Mei and Victor S.
Joe and Karen,
My thank you letter to your God parents might be appropriate for lot of our other concerned friends. They keep calling us for details, hence I cope here before you have time to explain more yourself.
Love
Dad
" I lift up my eyes to the hills-
where does my help come from ?
My help comes from the LORD, the maker of heaven and earth.
The LORD watches over you-
the LORD is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night." PSALM 121
Dear Karen and Joe
We are praying for you !

Dear Joe,
Like many others, We have been praying for your speedy recovery. It is very difficult to come up any word to comfort you and Karen. We just want you to know that we are all behind you. You are always in our thoughts and prayers.
Harry & Jean
Some concerned medical friends said why all the pictures of guests taken in Joe's room were not wearing sterile gowns. But every time you enter the room, you have to wash your hands. My guess is that there are no rules from hospital for guests to wear gowns. Yet no gusts ever allowed to touch or kiss(sorry for him)Joe. They talk from distance. But all workers came in with whole set of armor. I personally feel masks for guests a good idea, particularly for loud persons.
